They do not have time to rest, they are constantly working on new projects day in day out. After bringing back Mary J Blige vibe in Mpaka Che (All Night Long Swahili Rendition), the Linda’s presents Usitoroke another classic R&B swahili rendition.
Usitoroke is a swahili version of the 1992 R&B hit song “Don’t Walk Away” by American hip hop soul group Jade. The American hip hop soul group was active during the early to mid-1990s. The group consisted of Tonya Kelly, Joi Marshall, and Di Reed. During their brief yet successful career, Jade released two studio albums, one live album, and a string of popular R&B singles.

“Don’t Walk Away” was released in November 23, 1992 as single from Jade’s album, Jade to the Max. It became one of the biggest Dance and R&B singles of the year. The song peaked at number two on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100. Internationally, the song also peaked within the top ten of the charts in the United Kingdom. The success of the single landed the trio spots on The Tonight Show, The Arsenio Hall Show and Top of the Pops in the UK. A cover version of this track by Jenny Jones was released in January 2009. The first verse and chorus were interpolated in Diplo & Sleepy Tom’s 2015 dance track “Be Right There“.
Usitoroke is a second full cover version of the song, the first being that of Jenny Jones in 2009. This makes the trio among the few artist to ever work on the cover of the song (3 to be precise). From the video, to the vocals by the girls is totally vintage preserving the originality.
Produced by Wawesh Mjanja and video shot and directed by Hassan Mandevu, Usitoroke is such a masterpiece. Watch and enjoy the tune and let us know what your thoughts are,
